Ghost Buddies

Ghost Buddies.... not busters! The motivation for this class was to offer a parent-child session but you can feel free to sign up in any capacity; single, with friends and family, etc. It is a bit shorter and a lower cost than our usual classes because the materials and time it takes to make them is not as much. Still they are fun and friendly. Hang them around Halloween or anytime you need a ghost buddy!
Felting is a process that sculpts wool into any shape you imagine. Wool fibers are covered with scales. In needle felting we use special barbed needles that lock the scales of the fiber together through agitation. What this looks like in real time, is stabbing fluffy colorful wool over and over with sharp needles. Wet felting incorporates the same 'agitation' concept but it is done by shocking the fibers with hot and cold water and rubbing it to get the scales to connect with each other.
Classes are held in the comfort of our converted double bay garage. It is on the street level and equipped with a powder room. If the class is full we may ask you to park at the bottom of the driveway and walk up the short distance past the alpaca fields. We have a farm shop on the property that you are also welcome to visit. Feel free to BYOB or snacks. Pictures and fun are encouraged!
Instructor: Farren Maillie
I am a fiber artist specializing in all things squishy and wool. I am passionate about sustainable art and love creating nature inspired pieces with materials collected from our bountiful world. You are likely to find me in the forest looking for inspiration, fairy doors and gnomes.
