Season 12 Opener: Romantic Revelry (featuring two student scholarship winners!)

Saturday, August 16, 2025, Berks Sinfonietta opens its 12th season of continuous concert programming... with an exciting new addition!

This year, we revive the beloved Scholarship Competition, long hosted by the Reading Symphony Orchestra. Eight students applied, and we selected two winners in April:

Ariel Metzger, marimba, grade 12 (1st place winner)
Artemis Drake, oboe, grade 11 (2nd place winner)

Each winner receives a $500 stipend for college, and each performs with Berks Sinfonietta at our August concert.

On the evening's concert program are:

- Concertino for Marimba and Orchestra, Mvts. 2 and 3 – Paul Creston | Ariel Metzger, marimba
- Oboe Concerto, Mvts. 1 and 2 – Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart | Artemis Drake, oboe
- Symphony No. 8 in G Major – Antonin Dvořák
- Ambarvalia – Ruth Gipps – American premiere

Tickets are $25 when purchased in advance and $30 at the door. Students are $5, and children under 18 are free.
