Introduction to Clay
Mondays from 6pm to 8pm
July 21 through August 25, 2025 (6 weeks)
Instructor: Rob Ivanisin
New to clay? This 6-week class is designed for students who have little (or no) experience with clay and want to get their feet wet. They’ll be taught the very basics of clay work, with emphasis on getting to know how clay feels and how it can be manipulated at different stages. Think of it like getting to know how to drive a car by starting in an empty parking lot. You’ll be learning beside an expert in a safe, no-pressure setting.
Students can expect to sample a wide swath of optional uses of clay, including: basic hand-building, surface-design techniques, finishing options, and a quick introduction to wheel-throwing. This is to help them decide if clay is for them, and if so, where they’d like to go next with it.
