Join local historian and writer Linda Hooke as she introduces her dynamic new book, ‘The Squire of Kilwaughter.’ Set in Kilwaughter castle it brings the Georgian period to life with unforgettable characters
Linda is a retired Primary School teacher living in a rural area a few miles from Larne Co. Antrim.
Her lifelong interest in local history led her to work voluntarily in Larne Museum after she retired.
Whilst working there she was asked to take part in Mid and East Antrim’s “Looking Back to Look Forward” project to celebrate Northern Ireland’s first Century. This involved writing a short article about an untold story that took place during that period. The story was featured among others in the book given the same title.
Her research into local history turned up some interesting stories, particularly about her own family.
She discovered how much she enjoys writing and recently made the leap from non-fiction to fiction by publishing her first novel, The Squire of Kilwaughter, based on the life of a little-known true character who led an amazing life during the late Georgian period in history.
