Learning an instrument can be a great extra curricular activity for people of all ages and comes with benefits far beyond just being able to play your favourite songs.
Studies have shown that learning an instrument can help children achieve more in their academic studies, including in core subjects such as Maths and English. It can help build confidence, concentration and coordination. It has also been shown improve mental health and can help build resilience. Having learnt how to pLay an instrument can also aid in university and job applications.
At daFinchi Music’s Summer camp, each session starts with a music based, fun, ice breaker game to help build connections and confidence and get the minds ready for a session of learning.
By the end of the camp, the goal is that each child has leant at least one song on each of the four instruments and that ‘they have a wider understanding of music as a whole.
Each child will receive a certificate at the end of the week to show they have taken part in the camp.
