Speaker Series: Wiliam Miner and His North Country Legacy

William Henry Miner’s life is a true Horatio Alger story. Orphaned at a young age, he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Chazy, New York. After achieving his wealth, Miner returned to Chazy with his wife Alice to establish Heart’s Delight Farm. The farm was a model of agricultural innovation and self-sufficiency draw. The Miners also believed in using their fortune to help others and their remarkable generosity continues to impact the North Country.

Amy Bedard has been the Library Director at the William H. Miner Agricultural Research Institute in Chazy since 2006. In addition to managing the library and archives, she is dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of William and Alice Miner and their beloved Heart’s Delight Farm. Originally from the North Country, Amy holds a BS from SUNY Plattsburgh and an MLS from Clarion University. Outside of her professional role, Amy enjoys photography, birding, and travel.
