August Artist's Statement
I can't imagine a day without a paintbrush in my hand! Creating colorful, energetic, semi-abstract, paintings filled with emotion is my current interest. My subjects are recognizable but with abstract elements. Exaggerated and strong value contrasts grab the viewer's attention, while a closer look reveals something more. When the viewer feels a sense of familiarity, or is reminded of another place and time, or experiences a touch of nostalgia, I am rewarded with the feeling of success. - Dee Burdick
Bio
My name is Dee Burdick and painting is my lifelong passion. My current style is energetic, semi abstract paintings filled with emotion. My work is inspired by the landscape around my home. Just minutes from the beaches and rocky coast. I also live near farms, pastures, and marshes. I am passionate about sharing the beauty I see in these familiar scenes. I begin intuitively, with a vague idea and play with a composition as I build layers of color. Shapes emerge and a story starts to evolve.
