St. Magnus is one of the two early Christian martyrs enshrined here at St. Martin’s! He was a Roman centurion who was martyred with St. Bonosa in the third century by Emperor Diocletian. With the permission of Pope Leo XIII, their relics were given to St. Martin’s, and they arrived at the customs office in Louisville on December 31, 1901. They were brought to our shrine and placed in glass fronted reliquaries beneath the side altars, where they are venerated to this day.
