MuckAbout with Medieval Iberian Music!

Saturday, August 9th, join us for a joyful and participatory workshop exploring two of the most vibrant musical collections of the Middle Ages. The Cantigas de Santa Maria are a 13th-century collection of songs in praise of the Virgin Mary, which tell miracle stories and devotional tales in lively, memorable melodies. The Llibre Vermell de Montserrat (“Red Book of Montserrat”) is a 14th-century manuscript from a Catalonian monastery, filled with songs intended for pilgrims to sing and dance as part of their spiritual journey.

In this hands-on session, we’ll sing and play through this repertoire—some reverent, some lively, all irresistibly beautiful. Whether you're a seasoned early music lover or just curious about medieval song, this workshop is open to singers and instrumentalists (A=440) of all levels. Please RSVP at this link https://forms.gle/sKp41GdqCJ527Hcu7 to request a score packet (a PDF in advance or a hard copy at the event). There is no charge to participate, but donations through our website trobarmedieval.org are always gratefully accepted!
