Community Cleanup Week!

Junction City, KS — The City of Junction City, in partnership with Geary County, will host Community Clean-Up Week from Monday, August 4 through Sunday, August 10, 2025. This initiative is part of a coordinated effort to support neighborhood beautification and promote responsible waste disposal throughout the community.
During this week-long event, residents will have access to free bulk item disposal services at designated locations across the city and county. This service is designed to accommodate the removal of oversized household items that are not typically accepted through weekly curbside collection.
Accepted Items
- Household Bulk Items: Large household items such as furniture and mattresses that do not fit in standard trash collection.
Tires and Appliances:
- These items must be dropped off at Junction City Public Works, located at 2324 N. Jackson Street.
- All appliances must be cleaned of food and debris prior to disposal.
Unaccepted Items
The following materials will not be accepted at dumpster sites:
- Construction debris: Lumber, drywall, roofing materials
Hazardous waste, including:
- Sewage and sludge
- Paint thinner and spray paint
- Flammable or combustible materials
- Lithium batteries
- Automotive fluids and household chemical cleaners
- Pesticides, grease, hazardous liquids, and oil
Hazardous waste must be taken to the Recycling Center at 304 E. 8th Street.

-1002 W. 12th Street (near the softball fields)
- 915 S. Washington Street (Mini Golf Area near Spin City)
- North Park Parking Lot near Thompson Drive
- Pool Parking Lot, west of 906 W. 4th Street
- Geary County Rural Locations:
- Rural Fire Station #8 – 3500 Pleasant View Road, Milford, KS 66514
- Rural Fire Station #2 – 7019 East Lyons Creek Road, Junction City, KS 66441
Special Disposal Site for Tires and Appliances:
- Junction City Public Works – 2324 N. Jackson Street (designated dumpsters only)
Tree and Brush Drop-Off:
- Geary County Landfill – 115 South East Street
All collection sites will close at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025.
