🚨🚨🚨 STAR PARTY ALERT!! 🚨🚨🚨
** Saturday, July 26, 2025 - - 9:30pm ~ 12:00am
Hello friends!
Well, we were clouded/rained out on Sat night (07.19) for our last star party, but... We'll be trying again at our next event this coming Sat, July 26!
Again, we'll be officially starting at 9:30pm at the Stephen F. Wessling Observatory, and hosted by The Newaygo County Dark Sky Astronomers.
Sunset for July 26 is around 9:14pm, and we'll be highlighting the summer constellations for the evening. And... we'll be hoping to catch a few bright streaks in the sky from the Delta Aquariid Meteor Shower (peak shower dates are 7/29-30).
"New Moon" phase is Thurs, 07.24, so the sky will be nice and dark for stargazing and viewing various other night sky gems, such as various star clusters, nebulae, and the brilliant summer Milky Way.
Mars is a little less than 20° up in the W at 9:30pm, so we *might* get a quick glance at it before it sets.
Plus, we'll have our long-time visitor favorite, "The Constellation Tour" for July, highlighting the mid-summer constellations!
We'll be opening the doors to the Kropscott Farm Science Building for visitor sign-ins a little before 9:30pm, and observing the night sky till around midnight, as long as people are there, and the skies are clear.
(** NOTE ** - - Please stop by the Science Building *FIRST* to sign in before heading over to the observatory).
Currently, the forecast for Fremont on Sat 7/26 is a partly cloudy day, with mostly clear skies that evening (we'll definitely be hoping!). Temps should be in the high-60's to low-70's.
*** PLEASE NOTE: Observatory viewing is subject to cancellation due to cloudy skies/rain. However, on occasion, we'll have an inside program if there is inclement weather.
As always, we'll be monitoring the forecast as the week progresses. (Any updates or changes will be noted in the "Discussion" tab of the event here, should observing plans be called off).
We encourage our visitors - and club members - who may have their own equipment (telescopes and/or binoculars) to bring their setups, and share your own favorite night sky objects with everyone! 🔭
Admission for the evening is:
Adults - $5.00
17 and younger - $2.00
Kids under five - FREE
(All proceeds go toward the maintenance and improvement of the Wessling Observatory and Kropscott Farm property).
The Dark Sky Astronomers team look forward to viewing the night sky with you on Sat. July 26!
Until then...
Clear Skies! 🔭🌑🪐✨
