Lake Harrison - Searching for the Swamp Monster

Google: Harrison Lake National Fish Hatchery, Boat Ramp, Charles City for directions. It’s a little tricky to get there. You have to drive past the fish hatchery and make a right at the fork in the road to the lake. Make a left at the house and go down the dirt road.

Drop your kayak off at 1:45. We’ll be on the water at 2 pm and ready to go by 2:10. Parking is very easy with a big parking lot. We will use the boat ramp to enter the water. We'll be back from kayaking right around 5 pm. This is a really easy paddle on a lake with no current. Easy peasy! With lots of pretty trees.

LIFE JACKETS (PFDs) MUST BE WORN and fastened while on the water. Make sure you have a whistle. PLEASE don’t make me talk to you about wearing your life jacket properly. Snap it closed.

PLEASE STAY WITH THE GROUP! Take little breaks so everyone can catch up. Don’t let anyone get too far behind. If you want to go back let someone know. Be extra friendly. Find a new kayaking buddy. Have a great time!

BRING A SNACK. Always bring something to drink, a snack, and a "we are going to have fun attitude!" (Kayaking is sometimes canceled because of bad weather, but I try not too. Use your best judgement.)

IF YOU NEED HELP BLOW YOUR WHISTLE!
