Intro to Fly Tying

Join us at Little Buffalo State Park for a hands-on fly-tying program designed especially for kids! We’ll kick things off with a fun and interactive talk about macroinvertebrates—tiny aquatic creatures like mayflies, caddisflies, and stoneflies that live in our streams and help us understand water quality. Then, our park educator will show you how these bugs inspire the flies we use in fishing and guide you through tying a few common fly patterns used in the area. After that, it’s your turn to get creative! Use what you’ve learned to tie your own unique version of a fly. All materials provided. Great for ages 8 and up. No experience necessary! We will be at the park office classroom for this program.
Please register ONLY the participants that are going to be fly tying as we are very limited on vices. If you have a vice, please feel free to bring it and let us know so we can allow someone else to use ours.
