Memorial Satilla is proud to host a new monthly support group for diabetics and their caregivers. This resource will meet a great need in our community. The monthly support group, called the 912 Diabetes Initiative, is facilitated by the Talki Foundation, a regional nonprofit specializing in resources and supports for diabetics.

The first meeting will be Tuesday, August 5, 7 pm.

Question.

Do you recognize the huge difference between Type One and Type Two diabetes?

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease where the body's immune system attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas, requiring lifelong insulin therapy.

Shots.

Type 2 diabetes, on the other hand, is primarily characterized by insulin resistance, where the body's cells don't respond properly to insulin, and the pancreas may not produce enough insulin to compensate.

Pill, diet.

If that looks like word salad to you, we're gonna talk about that. And other things that are important to us.

Seriously, we are all in this together. To live your best life, you gotta get your diabetes under control.

You're not alone.
