Beginners Sewing l Intro to Sewing Machines

Are you new to sewing and need walking through the basics? Or have you been sewing for years without achieving the results that you want? This half day workshop provides comprehensive foundation in the essential sewing skills, teaching you a professional approach and getting you into good habits.

Bring your machine along for this 3hr Saturday morning workshop, or use one of the studio machines. We will cover:

Filling bobbins and threading up
Understanding and adjusting thread tensions
Correct needle and thread selection
How to sew accurately and stay straight
Back-tacking seams
How to avoid tangles and jams
Troubleshooting machine problems
Machine maintenance

Once we're up and running we'll practice a selection of stitches and then complete a cotton and linen basket to take home with you.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided to keep everyone going. This is a great workshop for novices and lapsed sewists alike, and a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.
