Marisa Chumil-Lazio, Child Advocacy Program Co-Director at the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights in Chicago will update us on the status of the current administration's policies on unaccompanied children.
The Young Center's main role is to advocate for dignity, respect and care for immigrant children arriving in the US on their own as they navigate our complex and adversarial immigration system.
In 2004, Maria Woltjen founded the Young Center on a shoestring budget and worked with 70 immigrant children in federal detention. In 2024, the Young Center worked with over 7,000 children from over 70 countries.
