Gayle McKeen is an experienced guide with a PhD in Political Science from the University of Chicago. A passionate architecture enthusiast with Finnish roots, she has been leading popular walking tours in Helsinki since 2017.

The Historical Helsinki Architecture Walk

What makes Helsinki the city it is today? This walk introduces key figures and historical turning points in Finnish history while exploring the building materials and techniques that have shaped the capital. You’ll encounter some of the most iconic buildings that reflect the city’s unique architectural character.

Tour Details

The walk starts at the Architecture and Design Museum’s D-building (former Design Museum building, Korkeavuorenkatu 23, 00130 Helsinki) and ends at Helsinki Central Railway Station (Kaivokatu 1, 00100 Helsinki). The duration is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
