Julia Wray + support: Twisted Liquorice

On 23rd July Scarborough Jazz Club welcomes someone who doesn’t have far to travel for this gig, Scarborough based saxophonist Julia Wray. A proud Yorkshire lass, Julia has more than 20 years professional experience playing jazz, pop, soul and funk, in settings ranging from cruise ships to exclusive overseas hotels to London’s Ministry of Sound, and touring the national jazz clubs as a solo artist and with her own jazz quartet.
Julia has warm, straight ahead sound, playing a mix of jazz classics, 70s fusion and a dash of funk.

We've a special 4-piece edition of our house band too for this gig led by Mark Gordon on piano with Sean Blake on bass, Dylan Riley on drums, and Adrian Riley on Percussion.

In support we're delighted to welcome Twisted Liquorice, a jazz/soul funk band led by Jacob Robinson on sax. Giving their own take on songs ranging from blue but beautiful Chet Baker standards, to soul classics by stevie wonder.
