The group, along with Kapiti Coast District Council, will be facilitating a public planting day on Tuesday July 22nd, starting with a cup of tea from 9.30, planting between 10 and 12 midday.
We are also doing a planting on Wednesday the 23rd from 1.30 to 3.
Come to the north end of Moana Street, where a sign will direct you to the entrance of the dunes nursery.
It would be helpful if adults could bring their own gloves and spade.
We will be planting mostly front dune plants, spinifex, mostly, in a front dune area where native birds, and particularly the endangered dotterell like to nest.
Plants will be provided, and holes dug by KCDC staff.
We'll be joined by students from Εtaki schools.
If you have an hour to spare to make your own special contribution to the dune planting, we would love to see you.
It is a great feeling to experience the environment there and feel part of the mahi, even for an hour or two.
