This is a live, in-person event.
Location: The Edinburgh Bookshop, 176 Bruntsfield Pl
Join poet Simon Mole and musician Gecko for a special story-time session full of poems, raps and songs all about your favourite creepy crawlies (and some you haven't heard of yet!). Every tune is an earworm - even the ones about woodlice!
About the book:
Discover a secret world thriving right under your feet! In this new book A FIRST BOOK OF BUGS, the follow-up to the popular A First Book of Dinosaurs, Simon Mole turns fascinating facts into poems full of humour and heart. Adam Ming’s illustrations are a riot of colour and energy, helping these extraordinary creatures to jump off the page. Here is the insect kingdom in all its glory – and here is a book that children will want to read over and over again.
Which beetle has a blaster on its bottom? Which minibeast is barely the size of a full stop? Which eight-legged hunter has fangs as big as a cheetah’s claws?
About the author:
Simon Mole is an acclaimed children's writer, performer and National Poetry Day ambassador, with over ten years of experience using poetry with children and families. Former poet in residence for the National Literacy Trust, Simon works in schools and libraries across the country and overseas. His popular YouTube 'write a poem in ten minutes' videos are used by hundreds of thousands of children and teachers across the world each year and have been featured on the BBC.
