Birding with Jim Hoagland at Sweetwater Wetlands

We had such a great response to Jim Hoagland’s ( https://saddlebrookeranchroundup.com/the-birdman-of-sbr-jim-hoagland/) talk about birds of Southern Arizona at our year-end banquet that Jim offered to take the club out for a birding morning when the fall migration starts up. Jim will be leading a small group at Sweetwater Wetlands ( https://www.tucsonaz.gov/Departments/Water/Community-Relations/Sweetwater-Wetlands) on Saturday, August 23, at 6:15a.m. (YIKES! That’s early!) We will leave the parking lot promptly at 6:15 and will explore the wetlands for up to three hours, depending on how things are going. Jim says we could see up to 50 different species! It's Arizona so be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and water. Binoculars would be helpful if you have them.

Birding requires quiet to be successful so the group will be small to minimize noise. A maximum of 9 attendees will be allowed. There is no fee to attend but registration is required to keep the group size manageable. Registration will close on August 14.

Birding for nearly 3 hours is going to build a hunger so afterwards we will head over to Cappy’s Breakfast Café ( https://www.facebook.com/cappyscaf3/) and replace that spent energy with a good hearty breakfast. You will pay for your own food and beverages.
