Bird Walk: Celebrating Sparrow Migration

WCAS is celebrating sparrow migration in October! We invite you to attend a webinar on October 16 and then a bird walk on October 18. Attend one or the other or both!

There are 20 sparrow species that have been recorded over the years at our local gem, the Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve. In mid-October, we can expect to see White-crowned, White-throated, Chipping, and Field Sparrow, as well as Dark-eyed Junco and Eastern Towhee. American Tree and Fox Sparrow should be just arriving. Song and Swamp Sparrow should be hanging around, too. Grasshopper, Clay-colored, Vesper, Nelson’s, and Harris’s Sparrow are all possible. We’ll also keep our eyes peeled for other fall favorites, such as Ruby-crowned and Golden-crowned Kinglets, Brown Creeper, and Winter Wren.

Location: Meet at the parking lot at Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve, 8701 Lakeshore Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44108: goo.gl/maps/imAXwgvv8vrHXCdD8

Date: Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.

Leaders: Michelle Brosius, Bill Deininger, Dave Graskemper, and Nancy Howell
