The Simon Fairfield Public Library in partnership with the Douglas Recreation Commission, invites the community to a free outdoor screening of the locally filmed family-friendly movie Eephus on Saturday, August 9 at Soldier’s Field in Douglas, Massachusetts.

3:00 PM - Reunion Game played by the crew of Eephus
6:30 PM - Gates Open - Public welcome to set-up and enjoy food trucks and activities
8:00 PM - Eephus showing begins

Please visit www.mysfpl.org/eephus to register. Registering helps give us an idea how many will be attending and the more people we know, the more food trucks we can deliver!

Eephus, written and directed by New Hampshire native Carson Lund, was filmed at Soldier’s Field with participation from local residents. As the Eephus Crew begins their Summer Barnstorming Tour, we are honored to host this special event. This viewing is a homecoming celebration, honoring the town’s contribution to the film and showcasing its deep sense of community spirit. Note there will be some coarse, authentic language.

There will be a special appearance by former Red Sox pitcher Bill “Spaceman” Lee, who appears in the film and famously threw the eephus pitch.

To start the afternoon, at 3:00 PM, spectators are welcome to come and watch a reunion game played by the crew of Eephus. In between innings and throughout the day’s events, the band Good Deli will be performing and if you listen closely, you might hear some of their music in the movie.

The gates will then reopen at 6:30 PM. Families are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for seating and find their spot on Soldier’s Field to prepare to view the movie. While waiting for the movie to start, there will be food trucks (including everyone’s favorite Smash’d) and family-friendly activities for all to enjoy. Please feel free to bring small coolers with refreshments, but please note that this is an alcohol-free event.

Then at 8:00 PM, our free outdoor screening of Carson Lund’s Eephus (1hr, 38 min) will begin.

Kids’ activities will begin when the gates open and continue throughout the movie, including slow-pitch softball, giant Jenga, corn hole, and Bowling for Books.
