"Men at Arms" is a play adapted by Stephen Briggs from Terry Pratchett's Discworld novel, focusing on the Ankh-Morpork City Watch.
Scarcely a year on from the events of Guards! Guards!, the Ankh-Morpork City Night Watch find their services are once more needed to tackle a threat to their city. A threat at least as deadly as a 60-foot dragon (which was last year's threat), but mechanical and heartless to boot. It kills without compunction. It is the first gun on the Discworld.
The original Watch β Captain Vimes, Sergeant Colon, Corporal Carrot and Corporal Nobbs β are joined by some new recruits, selected to reflect the cityβs ethnic make-up β Lance-Constable Cuddy (a dwarf), Detritus (a troll) and Angua (a wβ¦, well, best to find out for yourself).
Meanwhile... Captain Vimes prepares for his wedding and retirement, unaware that a plot to restore the monarchy is brewing.
*'Men at Arms' is the next story in the timeline in the DiscWorld, after our hugely successful 2024 season of the play 'Guards! Guards!'
