Merrymeeting Arts Center presents Late Bloomer, a retrospective exhibit by Maine-based artist Rachel Ingrid Robbins. A former writer turned full-time visual artist, Robbins brings a tactile, emotional depth to her pastel and mixed media work, exploring themes of growth, transformation, and creative resilience.
Created over the past several years, the pieces trace her evolution from written narrative to visual storytelling. Long a keeper of stories, Robbins now paints the ones where words no longer suffice—dreamlike narratives rendered in pastel, alcohol ink, acrylic, and gold leaf. Her work blends celestial imagery, enchanted landscapes, and magical beings: goddesses, angels, fae, and quiet animal guardians.
Late Bloomer is both a personal reclamation and a creative midpoint, marking a shift in voice and vision as the energies of maiden, mother, and crone begin to converge.
