Carle Health is celebrating National Mammography Day, the third Friday in October, by offering free mammograms! Individuals ages 40-64 who are uninsured or underinsured are invited to come for a walk-in mammmogram on October 17 between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. at Carle BroMenn Medical Center.
This cancer screening is provided by Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Carle Cancer Institute Normal and Prairie State Women's Health. This project is made possible, in part, by a grant from the IDPH Illinois Breast & Cervical Cancer Program.
Women sometimes put off getting a mammogram because theyβre afraid the doctor will find something. Most mammogram reports bring good news. Even if a lump is detected, eight out of 10 are NOT cancer. In the event of cancer, the survival rate approaches 100% for women whose tumors are detected and treated.
