Tai Chi Form - The 13 Postures for Continuing Students

This ongoing series is designed for students who have completed the introductory Tai Chi courses at Roots & River—Grasp the Sparrow’s Tail and The Four Corners—or who have an established foundation in Tai Chi.

Building on the basics, this class expands the study of the 13 Postures - the eight hand techniques and five stepping patterns that form the heart of Tai Chi Chuan. Emphasis is placed on coordinating breath with movement to deepen the meditative qualities, refining postural alignment, and cultivating internal energy (qi) through fluid and intentional transitions.

Tai Chi offers a wealth of benefits, including improved strength, flexibility, and coordination, as well as reduced stress and enhanced focus. In this course, students will explore intermediate-level forms, martial applications, and the rich philosophical teachings that inform Tai Chi as a path toward physical vitality and inner harmony.
