. Calling all nature loving kids!

Come along on 30th July for our extra special ‘Big Butterfly Count’ afternoon, where we will be giving you all the chance to become citizen scientists, get outdoors in nature and have fun!
This is a wonderful opportunity to engage kids in wildlife conservation and nature play in a fun and interesting afternoon, led by our Forest School Leader.

What is the Big Butterfly Count (and why should you get involved)?

Since 2010, Butterfly Conservation has been running an annual butterfly count project to encourage everyday people to contribute to our data on the health of butterfly populations. And, as populations continue to decline, we need your help more than ever to protect these vital species!

This is why at Wild and Wonder we will be running an extra special butterfly-themed Forest School afternoon. You will be instructed in how to engage in the count, with your own identification sheet and certificate of completed, and will also have the chance to enjoy all the fun of the forest with our butterfly-themed nature craft activity, our butterfly information stations, and the chance to engage in supported free play in the woodlands (or enjoy our cosy corner for some more relaxation!).

This event for all kids (recommended age 2-14, under 2 can come free with a sibling). Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

The event takes place in private woodlands at Rushcliffe Country Park (NG11 6JS). The event will run from 1pm - 4pm on a ‘drop in’ basis (stay for as long or as short as you like!), however pre-booking is essential. Sibling discounts available.

See our website (wildandwondernotts.com) or Eventbrite for more information. You can also find out more about the count as a whole at https://bigbutterflycount.butterfly-conservation.org/ - we can’t wait to see you there!

Full information will be sent out to attendees 2 days before the event.
