Following a successful run at the Arcola Theatre in 2024, Theatre Collection Guildford are bringing Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days to Guildford!
Happy Days was first performed in 1961 and named as one of the 40 best plays of all time by The Independent. It tells the story of Winnie, buried up to her waist and slowly consumed by her life and surroundings; only a bag of objects and her husband can distract her from the endless monotony. Will she survive? Can she claw her way out? Or is this the end of her Happy Days?
Jaymes Sygrove (Blithe Spirit film, 2020) directs this revival, initially staged by Victor Sobchak. Catharine Humphrys (The House of Bernarda Alba, National Theatre) reprises her role as Winnie.
