11am – 5pm
£99 inclusive of LUNCH and refreshments by Small Food Bakery
When is red red, and when is red… purple or orange or pink or peach or brick or maroon or blush or plum? Join us in this colour-obsessed workshop to explore the incredible versatility of the historic British dye plant ‘madder’ as well as its lesser-known relatives ‘lady’s bedstraw’ and ‘sweet woodruff’. We promise you a minimum of 25 shades and insight into the subtleties of plant-dyeing through use of a range of ‘mordants’ and ‘modifiers’ to prepare fibres and shift the colours in the dye pot. This workshop is suitable for curious beginners and more advanced dyers looking to deepen their knowledge. You’ll return home with an astonishing range of samples on wool as well as your own 100% merino wool socks dyed in a ‘red’ of your choice!
