Merlins Rest Pub Sing July 2025

We had an excellent Second Monday Shanty Sing this month, where we wowed a local reporter who came to find out about pub singing and all the singing communities that the Twin Cities have to offer. So let's follow that up with an equally excellent Third Monday Pub Sing at Merlins. Chuck Lentz will be songherding again, so see him if you'd like to lead a song. All the usual rules apply for our general-purpose sing: no instruments, no songbooks (though cheat sheets are OK if you need them), and bring any song that has a chorus we can all join in on.
And on a sad note, many of us are mourning the passing of Wendi Ward -- a longtime pub singer and pillar of the Twin Cities folk community. She sang and performed with some of us for up to fifty years, hosted singing at her shop, had an encyclopedic knowledge and repertoire of folk songs, and was famous for baking scones to feed the multitudes at the May Day morning Morris dancing. On Monday night at the pub, Robin Murie will be singing "Lowlands," a song that Wendi often sang and Robin harmonized with -- and if anyone else has a song you got from Wendi or sang with her, please let Chuck know so you can sing it for us and help us remember. See you then.
