Young bookworm Bastian Balthazar Bux hides in a bookstore to escape a band of bullies, where he discovers The NeverEnding Story. As he takes refuge in the book, a story within a story unfolds, where the kingdom of Fantasia is threatened by the encroaching void of “The Nothing.” While characters Atreyu and his flying dragon Falkor work to save the kingdom and its magical empress, Bux starts to understand that he may be more than a mere reader of this story, but also an essential force in countering “The Nothing.” 1984, West Germany/US, 94 min.
