Explore the natural and cultural history around the ruined village of Shiaba and learn about the Clearances (as featured in Willie Orr’s books). Beautiful moorland walk with impressive views of the south coast of Mull, possibility of seeing golden eagles and opportunity to visit the nearby beach with associated ruins of fishermen’s cottages. Terrain can be boggy underfoot.
Time: 10am-2.30pm
Meet: Bunessan village carpark (to share lifts up the track to the start of the walk)
Bring: lunch and a drink, sturdy waterproof footwear with ankle support and clothing appropriate to weather conditions, sunscreen/insect repellent, binoculars if you have them.
Cost: £15 adult, £7.50 child (takings split between the ranger service and the Ross of Mull Historical Centre)
