Learn about the ecology of high elevation Boreal spruce-fir forests a rare, critically imperiled habitat in MA. On a short walk and narrative slideshow, learn indicator species for this unique forest such as Balsam Fir, Red Spruce, Clintonia Borealis, Bunchberry, Mtn. Ash, Ruffed Grouse and Red Squirrel. Led by naturalist Aimee Gelinas M.Ed, Director of the Tamarack Hollow Nature & Cultural Center a non-profit organization in Windsor, MA conserving 88 acres of Boreal forest. Donations are accepted – the program is free! This project has been supported by a grant from the William J. and Margery S. Barrett Fund, a fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and supported in part by a grant from the Cultural Council of Northern Berkshire, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.” For info about Bascom Lodge visit www.bascomlodge.net.
