On September 7, 2002 my brother, Tate Shade, was killed in a tragic car accident. He was 19. From this tragedy the Tate Shade Memorial Fund was developed by, his parents Kim and Brenda Shade, sisters Kami Griffith and Kindsey Redd, and brother Ryan Shade. In honor of his memory each year, with the help of family and friends, the Tate Shade Memorial Fund holds a fundraiser with funds raised being donated to the Marion County Jr. Fair as awards for Showmanship in Beef and Swine. Tate was a 10 year participant in the Marion County Jr. Fair as well as an avid Bull Rider throughout his high school years.
Once again this year, in remembrance of that day 23 years ago, the Tate Shade Memorial will be hosting the “Tate Shade Memorial Bull Bash” on July 26, 2025 at the Palmyra Arena in Palmyra, MO. This year the event will be held during the Marion County Jr Fair and Fall Festival in which the fund sponsors. Over 300 youth from the Hannibal School District, Marion County School Districts, Monroe School District, and Lewis CO C-1 School District participate in the Fair each year.
