πŸ”₯πŸ’š Join us for a powerful and hands-on day with fire, soil, and community!

The Sunshine Collective is hosting a Conservation Burn Pile Biochar Workshop on Saturday, July 26th in Old Fort, NC. Taught by Opalyn Brenger!!

Come learn how to safely and cleanly burn woody debris using conservation pile methods that minimize smoke and create biocharβ€”a charcoal-like material that improves soil health and stores carbon for decades!

We’ll build and burn a pile together, share a potluck meal, learn how to use/inoculate biochar in the garden, and have some crafty art time while the fire does its thing. πŸ”₯🌿🎨

Led by the amazing Opalyn Brenger, who brings decades of experience in forest management and fire.

🧀 Bring: work clothes, gloves, water, a delicious dish

πŸ₯— Potluck style β€” bring something to share!

About the instructor - Opalyn Brenger has been learning from fire her whole life - starting with camp fires in my teens and building gasification units for vehicle fuel, cooking, or bio char to develop my skills. While managing a natural burial forest for nearly two decades, we’ve used limited thinning and other fire hazard reduction strategies which have significantly improved forest health while creating wood chips and biochar.
