Happy Hour originally had nothing to do with alcohol. The term "happy hour" originated in the U.S. Navy in the early 20th century as a way for sailors to unwind with entertainment and social activities, like boxing and movies, not drinking. It wasn't until after Prohibition that Happy Hour became associated with discounted drinks before dinner.
