Quay Stage 1 (ages 7 – 11 years) Youth Theatre at the Quay is BACK!

We’re thrilled to be able to offer young people an exciting series of drama workshops with us at the Jetty. After each term of ten sessions, we’ll put on a showcase in the Quay Theatre to show off our students’ talent and creativity. It’s a brilliant opportunity to learn and perform in a professional space.

Across the workshops, we’ll delve into the nitty gritty of how you tell a good story onstage. There’s so much we’re excited to explore in the world of theatre making- from theatrical skills and styles, to collaborating as creatives. It’s all about having fun and letting loose as a group!

Quay Stage 1 is our group for young people who are in year three to year six. These fun and lively sessions will be a gentle welcome to the world of theatre. We’ll cover basic skills in acting and drama- and play plenty of games along the way!

In our first term, we’ll be focusing on the core skills of comedy and tension. We’ll look at devising and improvising scenes to captivate an audience. How can we use silence in a piece? How can we escalate a comic scene into hilarious chaos? There's a wealth of skills to learn- whether you want to make people laugh or cry- and we can’t wait to dive in!

The term is priced at £80 for all 10 sessions.

Quay Stage 1 will run on Mondays from 17:30-19:00, commencing on the 15th September.

Each group will have their own separate showcase performance in the tenth week.
