Hawk Watch with Scott Weidensaul

Join the Milton Conservation Commission and Moose Mountains Regional Greenways on Saturday, September 20, from 9 to noon, for a Hawk Watch with renowned ornithologist and best-selling nature writer Scott Weidensaul. Scott will share his deep expertise with participants as well as his experiences from over 40 years of working with birds in the field across the globe.

This popular annual event will have a new location this year, on private conservation land on Teneriffe Mountain in Milton. This site has excellent visibility to the north to watch for migrating hawks and to enjoy the view of Mount Washington on a clear day. A five-minute moderately steep walk to the viewing site will be required, as will the patience to wait for raptors to fly over. It is a good idea to bring a portable chair, snack and water, hat and bug spray, sunscreen, and definitely binoculars; a few extra pairs may be available.

This event is free to all but is limited to fifteen participants and advance registration is required

Registrants will get an email confirmation with details about parking and possible weather date. The event may be postponed to the same time on the following day, Sunday, Sept 21, if the tailwinds for migration look better or to avoid inclement weather.
