Join us and the Tobermory Yacht Club for our next SOK Talk featuring environmental scientist Dr. Francine McCarthy. This event takes place on August 14, 2025, at the Parks Canada Visitor Centre in Tobermory. Doors open at 6:30 PM; the talk begins at 7:00 PM.
Dr. McCarthy, known for her pivotal research identifying Crawford Lake as a marker of the Anthropocene era, will discuss the significant environmental changes occurring in the Great Lakes region due to human activity, as well as strategies for adaptation and mitigation. This talk is free, with donations gratefully accepted for the McCarthy Fund, which supports educational initiatives and preservation efforts at Crawford Lake.
