The Perseid meteor shower is generally one of the most spectacular every year, with a peak of close to 100 meteors per hour and very bright, persistent streaks. This year the peak is scheduled to be the night of August 12-13, a little after midnight. The Perseid shower is a debris trail from a comet first seen in 69 BC, back when the city of Pompeii still existed. It has periodically been seen every 133 years, the latest being 1992. Bring a lawn chair and watch for meteors with us from 8-10 p.m.
