In celebration of the Canada Summer Games, please join Zal Sissokho, a Senegalese Canadian musician based in Montreal, most noted for his album Kora Flamenca, an exploration of the fusion of African kora with Spanish flamenco which won the Felix Award for World Music Album of the Year at the 42 Felix Awards.
True to the tradition of the African griot, this bearer of ancient stories and messages, hailing from Kolda in southern Senegal, casts a poetic gaze on both his contemporary surroundings and the past.
The singer-songwriter honors his lineage by singing in Malinke and Wolof, noble oral marks of the Mande Empire of Soundiata Keita.
This is a free event but a ticket is required. Please reserve your free ticket online or by calling (709)757-8090.
Check out From ‘77 to ’25: A Journey Through Newfoundland and Labrador’s Canada Games celebrating the legacy, spirit, and impact of the Canada Games in Newfoundland and Labrador. This exhibition captures the stories, memories, and moments that have shaped the Games - from the athletes and volunteers. Located on level 2.
