You are invited to attend a meeting to learn about Toastmasters International and public speaking. This is your opportunity to observe a meeting - watch members deliver speeches and receive feedback.
This is a "learn at your own pace" club for public speaking. We start promptly at noon, so please arrive 5-10 minutes early.
Toastmasters International started back in 1924 teaching people how to speak in public effectively. The first half of the meeting is for members to deliver prepared speeches. Then an evaluator will give the speaker some motivational feedback designed to help them improve.
The second half of the meeting is reserved for table topics. This teaches the members the art of impromptu speaking - speaking off the cuff. Most of the members say this is the most fun part of the meeting.
As a visitor, you won't be put on the spot and be expected to speak. After the meeting, the members will be happy to answer questions about the club, how it works, why they joined, what they've learned from their experience, and the impact being a member has had on them.
