Interfaith Sunday Service
- Healing Offering at 10:30 AM
- Service at 11:00
Our coordinator is Diane Sartini, and our message bearer will be Rev. Hoppy Rochner.
Our guest speaker is Margaret DSilva.
Margaret D'Silva, PhD. is a retired Professor of Communication. She has taught mindfulness practices and has embraced meditation and chanting as part of her healing journey.
Her topic: Sacred sounds: Chanting mantras in community.
Mantras are ancient, sacred sounds. Om or Aum is the most fundamental Sanskrit sound. Chanting mantras has enormous psychological and physiological benefits. Chanting decreases the heart rate, relaxes the body, and clears the mind. Group chanting fosters community and a sense of belonging.
We will chant the Gayatri Mantra, Asathoma, and Shanti. I will translate and interpret the mantras, and bring the words so we can all chant for peace.
PLEASE NOTE: The air conditioning upstairs will NOT be repaired by then, so there will be no lunch afterwards.
We hope to see you on the 20th!
