Free β’ Ages 2.5 to 6 β’ Parent attendance encouraged
Join us for a hands-on, nature-loving morning where weβll become backyard entomologists! Children will build their own mini bug hotels using natural and recycled materials β perfect for creating safe little shelters for pollinators, beetles, and spiders right outside your home.
As we create, weβll explore the fascinating life cycles of three different creatures:
β’ π The moth β from egg to fuzzy caterpillar to fluttering wings
β’ π·οΈ The spider β egg sac to tiny spiderlings and web-building wonders
β’ πͺ² The beetle β larva to pupa to shiny armored adult!
Weβll use felt models, stories, and visual charts to help children understand metamorphosis and insect behavior in a way thatβs engaging and age-appropriate. The children will get to touch, sort, and build, making this a rich sensory experience that connects science with art and practical life.
This workshop encourages:
β¨ Curiosity about nature
π§ Scientific thinking
π Fine motor development
π± Respect for even the tiniest creatures
Each child will take home their very own bug hotel made by you and a simple life cycle mini-book to continue the learning at home.
