Jacqui Malins is a writer, performer and visual artist based on Ngunawal and Ngambri country in Canberra. She is fascinated by the dynamics and relationships of social and natural environments, and the patterns and forces shaping them over time. Jacqui has created poetry-theatre shows 'Matter of Life', 'Words in Flight' and 'Cavorting with Time' and performed at events including the Poetry on the Move and National Folk Festivals (ACT), the Woodford Festival (QLD) and the 2022 National Poetry Month Gala (NSW). She co-founded Mother Tongue Multilingual Poetry Events (Canberra), and directed and produced the 2021 and 2023 Poetic City Festivals. and organises Mother Tongue Multilingual Poetry events in Canberra.
Jacqui will be reading from her new collection GERT.
Dr Maggie Shapley is a Canberra poet whose poems have been published in literary journals and anthologies including The Best Australian Poetry 2004 (UQP) and the Anthology of Australian Prose Poetry (MUP 2020). Her first collection, Proof, was published by Recent Work Press in 2017. She retired as University Archivist at the Australian National University in 2018. The first draft of her new work Fruits of Exile was part of her PhD thesis on the publication of Australian female poets, focusing on Gwen Harwood and Margaret Scott.
Maggie will be reading from her new collection FRUITS OF EXILE.
