Paddle Down is a signature event of the Chatt Town Cool Down and is an organized, recreational people-powered paddler’s parade down the Tennessee River and downtown Chattanooga.
We will start at the Rivermont Park Dixie Boat Launch and paddle down to Coolidge Park approximately 4 miles along the Tennessee River.
Bring your own kayak, canoe, SUP, or rent one from one of the coordinating outfitters. With this parade – Costuming is encouraged! *There will be prizes this year for the most creative paddler and craft*. Please be mindful of costumes being safe and eco friendly.
Shuttles are provided between 8:30 am and 9:30 am, prior to the event start only, assisting you with your parking logistics. After dropping off your watercraft with the boat valet at the put-in, take the shuttle back to the put-in to prepare for the group launch paddle parade at 10:00 am. Shuttles are FREE! We do ask that you register for your shuttle time so we can plan and accommodate EVERYONE!
Participants exit the Paddle Parade at the Coolidge Park Canoe Launch. A boat valet will be available to hold boats for pick up until 3pm. Rented boats may be returned at this point as well.
From launch time to paddle to pick up duration is approx. 2-3 hours. Launch time is 10am. We are offering free shuttles (information below) and we ask that paddlers be either out of the water or “check out” of the parade with one of our paddle safety personnel by 12:30 pm.
