After a brief midsummer heatwave hiatus, the Indie Classics Film Club returns Tuesday 29th July for a screening of MEEK’S CUTOFF (2010).
In 1845, a group of travellers embarking on a trip across a desert in Oregon find themselves lost and fearing for their survival, in this tense, absorbing revisionist western. Will the Native American man of the Cayuse tribe they encounter lead them to safety, or to their deaths?
Director Kelly Reichardt is celebrated for her uniquely subtle and contemplative perspective, and here offers a feminist take on that most traditionally masculine of genres.
