Stormwater Stream Sweep - Williamson Creek S. I-35
Saturday, July 19, 2025 8-10am
5501 S I-35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78744
Please join us for a SACA-led Creek Clean-up of Williamson Creek along S. I-35 this Saturday.
Volunteering activities can be healing – we sometimes use opportunities such as creek-clean-ups as a sort of symbiotic practice of healing. Altruism and volunteering can raise levels of oxytocin as well as provide hits of dopamine for your brain. During difficult and overwhelming times, helping our planet heal can be especially good for our mental well being.
This event is scheduled to begin at 8am in the Northwest corner of the parking lot of the BMW dealership. This is a designated space for visitors of the nature trail just north of the dealership along Williamson Creek.
We will start with a brief safety talk along with the history of the area and SACA before we head down to the creek.
This is an urban-wildlife interface area and is not maintained by the city. Be prepared for uneven, at times rocky and slippery, terrain. After rains, the area can be very muddy. Sturdy, closed-toed shoes are required (no sandals). Long pants are also recommended due to overgrowth in some areas.
Bring your water bottle. Heat and humidity are to be expected and hydration is imperative.
Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended. We may have some available at the table. If you are sensitive to certain sprays, we cannot guarantee we will have what you need.
Bags, grabbers, and gloves will be provided if you do not bring your own.
It is mandatory that all participants sign liability waivers in order to take part in the clean-up.
