Workshop Description: Join Albany State University professors of Visual Art Scott Marini and Ansley Simmons for an engaging exploration of cyanotype photography bridging past and present. We're offering two tailored workshop experiences that discover the fascinating historical context of this pioneering photographic process while learning hands-on techniques combining art, science, and creativity. Participants will experience the magic of cyanotype printing, one of photography's earliest methods, now reimagined as an accessible, eco-friendly artistic medium. Both workshops offer unique opportunities to create distinctive blue-toned prints while exploring how scientific innovation and artistic expression intersect in meaningful and beautiful ways. All participants will create and take home their own original cyanotype artworks as lasting mementos of their creative experience. Participants are encouraged to bring flat objects for printing such as leaves, flowers, feathers, keys, lace, or any interesting shapes that will create beautiful silhouettes when exposed to sunlight.
